Vacuolar Membrane Surface
Shown is a time series using a confocal section whiched glanced across the vacuolar membrane surface in and epidermal cell of line Q5 . This time series illustrates the deformations of the vacuolar membrane surface that occur as a result of cytoplasmic streaming. The regions of bright fluorescence mark the movement of material over the membrane surface. The increased fluorescence intesnity in regions of organelle movement presumably results from the membrane folding over on itself as organelles deform it, generating higher GFP density per unit volume.
