In the nucleus class, the lumen of the cell nuclei accumulate more label, relative to that detected in the cytosol, than is observed with free GFP. In some lines, GFP is partitioned very strongly to the nucleus, with little detectable fluorescence in the cytosol. In other lines, the fusion protein shows less strong partitioning, and is only moderately more bright in the nucleus than it is in the cytosol. There exists a variety of localization partterns within the nucleus among these lines, with some tags showing punctate distribution patterns. |
